What is my marginal utility today?

In my microeconomics course I am being tested on utility. Utility is defined as a unit of measurement of happiness for an individual person. One of my questions on the pending exam might appear like this:
How might Jane maximize her total utility per dollar by combining X amount of pizza and Y amount of tacos?

Notice how the words 'per dollar' are in the question. I thought money couldn't buy happiness! Guess that wasn't true!

I am just kidding. Today my happiness is contingent on the love in my life and the people who make my day better. I also measure my utility on how I can help others. Although microeconomics is a great way to learn about things that I will use later in life (maybe, maybe not) I can still be happy and grateful that I am healthy and have people I care about.

I truly can't imagine, though, traveling into a store, going up to the clerk and saying, "Hey can I buy 12 units of utility please?"

CAITLIN'S DAILY ADVICE: Maximize my utility today by surrounding myself with people I care about.

  1. Money can't buy happiness, but it sure makes it a lot easier to find.....especially when you are running low!
